ON A PERSONAL NOTE

Hello from the Ozark Mountains!

As I write this, the sun is just coming up over the mountains. There is no better muse for me than being in a beautiful setting.

I live in a small home with my rescue dogs, and it is a pleasure to take them with me to the office to do what I love, crafting words.

A Kansas City native, I moved here with my late husband, Dale, in 2007, fulfilling our lifelong dream of living on Bull Shoals Lake. We intended to build a larger home, but the recession hit, putting our plans on hold.

As John Lennon sang, “Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans.”

We learned we could live in our 480-square-foot cabin permanently and decided that by living small, we were actually Living Large. My blog, Living Large in Our Little House was born.

As we were thoroughly enjoying our life, once again, something happened that wasn’t planned. In 2018, I lost Dale to a sudden, massive heart attack. He was only 57, and we were high school sweethearts. I did not know any life without him.

I had to learn to Live Large all over again. I’ve since moved from my tiny home, closer to town, where I believe it will be easier to age in place.

Each chapter in our lives brings a wealth of experience, and I added writing about issues facing mature adults, especially widows, to my expertise.

I also realized how important it is for people to preserve their life stories or those of their parents and grandparents, so I take a limited number of commissions per year for those.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy traveling and writing about travel, being on the lake or ocean kayaking, fishing, or just floating. I also love taking walks on my country road or in the woods with my dogs, scouring thrift stores for mint condition classic rock vinyl, stargazing, fires in the pit, reading, eating, and drinking coffee in funky, fun places.

Thank you for stopping by. I can’t wait to work with you!

Living Large is a state of mind,
